Embracing Death = Embracing Life

with Jonas Chong M.A. Psychology

Duration 5:18 min

Its a given death is a process of life and at the same time when faced with a cancer diagnosis the thought of it coming sooner rather than later can be like the elephant in the room, a thought that’s very present and a conversation that’s very repressed.

The moment we choose to face that fear, embrace it, talk about it and explore our understanding of it our energy can go towards living rather than a fear of dying.

 Healing is not always about physcial healing, but emotional healing, relationship healing and a movement towards the life we have in each moment. Jonas  Chong head of the Psychology and Spirituality Department at Sanoviv discusses what can be a very sensative subject with maxAwareness and answers;

  •  Do you help your clients face death?
  • Many patients say healing started when they faced death?
  • Do you speak to your guests about the process of death?
  • Do you have clients who are ready to go and want to die?

About Jonas Gilberto Chong Curiel

Head of the Psychology and Spirituality Department

“Even since I was a small kid I had a sense of service. Helping others and having empathy towards others has been a big part of my life. I found out later that the best way I could channel these strengths was as a psychologist. Although soon I sensed that the mind and emotions, the focus of my work, did not exist in a vacuum, and that other factors came into play that I had no knowledge of”, says Jonas Chong, the Head of our Psychology and Spirituality Department. “This can be very frustrating when you try your best and yet are lacking critical tools”

“Then all of this changed when I started working at Sanoviv. The idea of a whole team of health professionals working towards one objective, the health of the patient, is pretty amazing. The meeting of the minds and hearts that we have everyday in our meetings at Sanoviv feels like a complete and balanced service to our guests.”

Jonas received his Clinical Psychologist degree from CETYS Universidad and a Masters Degree in Gestalt Psychotherapy from the INTEGRO School of Psychotherapy. He has received multiple training in the application of alternative tools for psychological and spiritual support. Among these are: Energy Medicine, Energy Psychology, Focusing and Emotional Medicine. He has also received training in meditations, class facilitation and workshop development. He has never really been a stranger to the healing arts, as his father is a Pediatric Surgeon and his mother a Pediatric Nurse.

“What I enjoy the most about my work here is that in spite of the inherent nature of being in a team with people who have different perspectives, somehow, we end up consistently reaching a balance point where the whole person is represented and a true healing plan of action can be created.”

“What we do in this breathtaking place does not happen anywhere else in the world. We are a truly integrated team of health professionals who assess and treat the whole human being. This is the medicine of the future. This can be yours today.”

Focused Attention and Healing

with Jonas Chong M.A. Psychology

Duration 6:54 min

Cancer is an opportunity to bring your focus and attention to reconnecting with your body and your life, an opportunity to heal and have a deeper relationship with yourself on a very intimate level. A relationship that is built on reconnecting  you spirit, heart, mind and body and creates peace and harmony within and is incredibly powerful on your healing journey.

There is often a sense of separation from the mind and the body, even a sense of separation from the self, this disconnect creates dis-ease in the body and therefore a clue to the shadow self, the parts of our life where we may have been hurt or abandoned.

Whilst the common focus in cancer treatment is often to fight the cancer, to go into battle, true healing occurs when we see cancer  as an opportunity to love and heal the very aspects of ourselves that created the ‘dis-ease’  in the first place.

Which begs the question ’If a pill or remedy was found that healed the body immediately, would it rob you of the learning and growing that comes from the healing journey?’

Jonas Chong the Head of the Psychology and Spirituality Department at Sanoviv talks with maxAwareness  about ‘The power of FOCUS and the true essence of finding PURPOSE in the healing journey.’

Exploring a person’s faith or spirituality in times of distress is an effective way of finding resources where there were none.  The Sanoviv team dialogue with people of all faiths in their own terms to find the balance between what might be occurring physically in their lives and what can be occurring spiritually. It is widely regarded that spirituality and religion are important factors in coping with and healing from chronic health issues like cancer.

Enhancing Cancer Treatments with the Hyperbaric Chamber

with Alex Thermos DO

Duration 7:48 min

If only all cancer treatments where like the Hyperbaric Chamber! You can kick back, relax, have a nap, watch a movie, listen to your favorite music and chill out for 45 minutes.

Alex Thermos gives a very grounded and easy to understand explanation of the treatment process, HOW it works and WHY its such a great benefit in Holistic Cancer Healing at the Center For New Medicine.

Hyperbaric chambers and hyperbaric oxygen therapy have been in use for centuries, as early as 1662 when an  English clergyman, Henshaw, built the first known hyperbaric pressure chamber. However, hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been used clinically since the mid 1800′s. HBO was tested and developed by the U.S. Military after World War I. It has been used safely since the 1930′s to help treat deep sea divers with decompression sickness. Clinical trials in the 1950′s uncovered a number of beneficial mechanisms from exposure to hyperbaric oxygen chambers.

Hyperbaric medicine, also known as hyperbaric oxygen therapy is the medical use of oxygen at a higher than atmospheric pressure. Hyper means increased and baric relates to pressure. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) refers to intermittent treatment of the entire body with 100-percent oxygen at greater than normal atmospheric pressure. The earth’s atmosphere normally exerts about 15 pounds per square inch of pressure at sea level. That pressure is defined as one atmosphere absolute (1 ATA). In the ambient atmosphere we normally breathe approximately 20 percent oxygen and 80 percent nitrogen. While undergoing HBOT, pressure is increased up to two times (2 ATA) in 100% oxygen.

This increased pressure, combined with an increase in oxygen to 100 percent, dissolves oxygen in the blood plasma and in all body cells, tissues and fluids at up to 10 times normal concentration-high enough to sustain life with no blood at all (from 20% to 100% oxygen is an increase of 5 times, from 1 ATA to 2 ATA can double this to a 10-fold increase).

Some of the many amazing benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber Therapy are that it :

  • Greatly increases oxygen concentration in all body tissues, even with reduced or blocked blood flow
  • Stimulates the growth of new blood vessels to locations with reduced circulation, improving blood flow to areas with arterial blockage
  • Causes a rebound arterial dilation, resulting in an increased blood vessel diameter greater than when therapy began, improving blood flow to compromised organs
  • Stimulates an adaptive increase in superoxide dismutase (SOD), one of the body’s principal, internally produced antioxidants and free radical scavengers and
  • Aids the treatment of infection by enhancing white blood cell action.

The use of increased atmospheric pressure for medical therapy has intrigued many physicians and scientists for hundreds of years. Though not new, HBOT has recently gained importance for treatment of chronic degenerative health problems related to cancer, atherosclerosis, stroke, peripheral vascular disease, diabetic ulcers, wound healing, cerebral palsy, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, macular degeneration, and many other disorders. Wherever blood flow and oxygen delivery to vital organs is reduced, function and healing can be aided with HBOT. When the brain is injured by stroke, CP, or trauma, HBOT may activate stunned parts of the brain to restore function.

Results can be dramatic. Patients with cerebral vascular disease commonly recover from complications of stroke more readily after HBOT. This is also true for potentially gangrenous legs and feet caused by blocked circulation, and for slow-healing diabetic ulcers. HBOT relieves pain, helps fight infection, and keeps threatened tissues alive.

One of the world’s most experienced authorities on hyperbaric medicine Dr. Edgar End, clinical professor of environmental medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin had this to say : “I’ve seen partially paralyzed people half carried into the HBOT chamber, and they walk out after the first treatment. If we got to these people quickly, we could prevent a great deal of damage.”

The Treatment Process

The Patient comes to the Hyperbaric Treatment facility and wears either a medical gown or non-flammable clothing.  They remove their shoes, watches, and empty their pockets of everything that they have – so as not to bring anything dangerous into the Hyperbaric Chamber.

The Patient is placed in the Hyperbaric Chamber and puts on a Mask that is attached to a medical hose which supplies 100% Oxygen to the Patient.  The door is closed and the patient can relax or even sleep in the Hyperbaric Chamber.

The Hyperbaric Chamber is pressurized with ambient air, and the pressure is elevated to sufficient amounts equivalent to depths in Seawater – 15 feet, 30 feet, 45 feet, etc. as prescribed by the Doctor.  These depths have equivalent measurements that are referred to as ATMOSPHERES (ATA).  Once the Patient reaches the prescribed pressure (1.5 ATA, 2.0 ATA, etc.) the Patient stays at this pressure for a prescribed amount of time – 60 minutes, 90 minutes, 120 minutes, etc.   The pressure allows us to saturate not only the Red Blood Cells with Oxygen, but also the Plasma with dissolved Oxygen.  We can therefore saturate the body with 25x the amount of Oxygen than breathing Oxygen alone.

Introducing Cristiana Paul

Nutritionist and Researcher

Duration Video 1 – 7:09 min Video 2 – min 8:07  Video 3 - 27:19 min Video 4 – 8:01 Video 5 – 20:11 min Video 6 – 24:15 min

Cristiana Paul is a nutritionist, working as an independent researcher and consultant to doctors and nutritionists in the Los Angeles area.

Having studied nutrition all her life, starting as a personal interest at age 35 she earned a Master’s degree in Nutrition Science from California Polytechnical Institute, Pomona. However, this basic training in nutrition was just a beginning, kind of like learning the letters of the alphabet and it took a lot more studying in order to put the letters together in words and phrases.

Understanding human physiology and the ways diet and supplements can affect it, is quite a puzzle. For over 15 years she has been through a journey of learning which sometimes feels like she has just begun getting a deep grasp of this so very complex puzzle, which we call nutrition science. ‘We might as well call it the science of optimal life’ says Christiana.

Her passion is to contribute to the advancement of the nutrition science, which is evolving very rapidly and providing multiple modalities to support optimum human health, performance, reduce risk of disease, minimize the need for pharmaceutical interventions and optimize vitality in spite of the challenges that aging presents.

Chronic diseases are killing us slowly. The global food market has rapidly progressed and we find ourselves eating foods that are; not appropriate  for our body type, out of season, have a prolonged shelf life, are filled with antibiotics and chemicals or are processed.

Being aware and understanding the source of  foods and the effects on our bodies is essential.  Having a variety of foods that are unprocessed and organic are easiest for the body to digest and process, allowing us to obtain a well balanced system and ultimate health.

Interview Part 3

Duration 27:19 min

There is a lot you can do to reduce your risk of cancer and heal your body, however understanding the complexity of the body is a huge task. When embarking on a healing journey or focusing on creating optimal health its integral to be supported by someone who understands the complexities of not only nutrients working together, but our cultural heritage and what our body needs to balance our intricate system in the 21st century.

Some of us try to do maintenance or fix our own cars, but we all know that it is a gamble depending on how much mechanical knowledge we have. However, most of us understand that it’s best to use a qualified mechanic. The better you take care of your car with regular maintenance, proper tune-ups and use the highest quality oil, water and gasoline, the better and longer it will function with good performance.

Well, we should do nothing less for our bodies, actually a lot more since we cannot trade them in for new ones (not yet anyway).

The bottom line is that if you want to function optimally physically and mentally, reduce your risk of all avoidable diseases and live a highly functional long life, you have to optimize what goes in your body every day: the right kinds and amounts of foods distributed properly throughout the day. Your food and nutritional supplements plan also has to be appropriate for your physical activity, genetics, lifestyle and your particular health conditions.

Cristiana Paul talks to maxAwareness about the ESSENTIALS to wellness.

  • Why we need to eat like primates in the zoo
  • What vegetables to eat
  • The complex effects of supplementation in foods like cereals
  • How vegetables effect our cancer risk and hormones
  • How carrots help cells multiply correctly
  • How cancer cells become immortal
  • The benefits and contraindications of juicing

Cristiana Paul talks about the Paleolithic diet and how it ultimately comes down to choosing to spend your money on  nutrient rich quality foods.

Paleolithic hunting and gathering peoples ate primarily meat, fish, shellfish, leafy vegetables, fruit, nuts and insects in varying proportions.  However, there is little direct evidence of the relative proportions of plant and animal foods. According to some anthropologists and advocates of the modern Paleolithic diet, Paleolithic hunter-gatherers consumed a significant amount of meat and possibly obtained most of their food from hunting. Competing hypotheses suggest that Paleolithic humans may have consumed a plant-based diet in general,  or that hunting and gathering possibly contributed equally to their diet. One hypothesis is that carbohydrate tubers (plant underground storage organs) may have been eaten in high amounts by our pre-agricultural humans. The relative proportions of plant and animal foods in the diets of Paleolithic peoples probably varied between regions. For instance, hunter gatherers in tropical regions such as Africa probably consumed a plant-based diet, while populations in colder regions such as Northern Europe most likely obtained most of their food from meat.

Overall, Paleolithic peoples experienced less famine and malnutrition than the Neolithic farming tribes that followed them.  This was partly because Paleolithic hunter-gatherers had access to a wider variety of plants and other foods, which allowed them a more nutritious diet and a decreased risk of famine.  Many of the famines experienced by Neolithic (and some modern) farmers were caused or amplified by their dependence on a small number of crops. The greater amount of meat obtained by hunting big game animals in Paleolithic diets than in Mesolithic and Neolithic diets may have also allowed Paleolithic Hunter-gatherers to enjoy a more nutritious diet than both Epipaleolithic/Mesolithic hunter-gatherers and Neolithic agriculturalists. It is also unlikely that Paleolithic hunter-gatherers were affected by modern diseases of affluence such as Type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease and cerebrovascular disease, because they ate mostly lean meats and plants and frequently engaged in intense physical activity. The Paleolithic diet (also known as the paleodiet or the caveman diet) is a modern diet that seeks to eliminate these diseases of affluence from contemporary industrial society, by replicating the dietary habits of Paleolithic hunter-gatherers.

‘Variety Is The Spice of Life

There is a very, very tasty way to enjoy your diet. Cristiana Paul shares insight into how to meet the complex needs of the body through correct cooking methods including raw foodism and eating a variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains and good oils.

Raw foodism can include any diet of primarily unheated food, or food warmed to a temperature less than 40 °C (104 °F) to 46 °C (115 °F). The most popular raw food diet is a raw vegan diet, but other forms may include animal products and/or meat. Raw foodists can be divided between those that advocate raw veganism or vegetarianism, those that advocate a raw omnivorous diet, and those that advocate a 100% raw animal foods diet.

A raw vegan diet consists of unprocessed, raw plant foods that have not been heated above 46 °C (115 °F). Raw vegans believe that foods cooked above this temperature have lost much of their nutritional value and are less healthy or even harmful to the body. Typical foods include fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds and sprouted grains and legumes.

Some raw vegans can be subdivided into fruitarians, juicearians, or sproutarians. Fruitarians eat primarily or exclusively fruits and nuts. Juicearians process their raw plant foods into juice. Sproutarians adhere to a diet consisting mainly of sprouted seeds.

Many foods in raw food diets are simple to prepare, such as fruits, salads, meat, and dairy. Other foods can require considerable advanced planning to prepare for eating. Rice and some other grains, for example, require sprouting or overnight soaking to become digestible. Many raw foodists believe it is best to soak nuts and seeds before eating them, to activate their enzymes, and deactivate enzyme inhibitors.[29] The amount of soak time varies for all nuts and seeds.

According to some cookbook authors, preparation of gourmet raw food recipes usually calls for a blender, food processor, juicer, and dehydrator. Depending on the recipe, some food (such as crackers, breads and cookies) may need to be dehydrated. These processes, which produce foods with the taste and texture of cooked food, are lengthy. Some raw foodists dispense with these recipes, feeling that there is no need to emulate the other nonraw diets or increase sales of kitchen appliances.

SURVIVAL OF THE SMARTEST

Unfortunately, the headline I have used for this  newsletter is not a joke! There are 2 main groups of people and only 1 small group has a chance to survive this toxic attack on our body.

1. THE INTELLIGENT SURVIVOR

Knows all about

  • The polluted air you breathe
  • The effects of emotional and mental stress
  • The toxins in our mass medicated water
  • Gene manipulated food
  • Herbicides, fungicides, larvaecides
  • Highly toxic meats from heavily medicated animals
  • Food additives and food enhancers
  • Preservatives
  • Plastic toxins
  • Personal care products and the list goes on

and how to avoid all these toxins or counteract the effects of the massive overload created in the body. There is an overwhelm of information, labels to read, ingredients to understand, multiple opinions and it can seem difficult and tedious to learn everything.

We all have to learn about the process of detoxification to get rid of already existing toxins as well. The comprehension of the danger gives us the  motivation to DO IT!!

WHO ARE THESE INTELLIGENT SURVIVORS?

We have found that there are 4 groups of people.

  1. LUCKY. The first group has been raised with awareness of a healthy lifestyle. They have been indoctrinated with all this information and have been brainwashed for years by parents, teachers, friends, who became aware of the problem long time ago.
  2. SURVIVORS The second group has been AWAKENED by a health problem or a shock. They HAD TO LEARN in order to survive and to get well. These are many of the cancer survivors we have met who now share their wisdom with others. This group was forced to face the reality .
  3. AWAKENED The third group are those who had their wake up call through the suffering of a friend, mum, dad, grandparent or anybody close, who had to deal with this disease. They learned because they were emotionally involved.
  4. INTERESTED The 4th group are those who have chosen to learn all this, due to choice of career or passion and have become aware. Many doctors and health practitioners, social workers, nutritionists, nurses, sports people, yoga practitioners and so on, will be in this department.

A friend of mine recently asked me: “Do I need to learn all of this, to survive? To be honest I do not have the passion like you to spend so much time on this! But then again, I really WANT TO LIVE!”  I assume many will think this way.  That’s why we have added the 5th category.

5. THE SMART SURVIVOR The fifth group is  limited to those who are still in the green and do not need medical support to repair the damage. They have not been diagnosed with cancer and have no symptoms.  It’s a group which has plenty of passion for life and a motivation to stay healthy.  To prevent cancer they:

EAT HEALTHY.

They buy organically grown fruits and vegetables, reduce the meat intake to only healthy grass-fed produce and have it only now and then. They eat a big variety of different greens every day and stick to a 70% raw / 30% lightly cooked diet.  Instead of processed snacks, they enjoy  a few nuts and seeds. Super-foods and healthy smoothies make life very easy.

AVOID PLASTICS & CHEMICALS

They buy a glass bottle with a big opening at the top for convenient cleaning and try to get spring water in bulk. We all need plenty of it. THEY STORE  their goods  in glass jars and avoid all canned products. They also stay clear of all toxic household cleaners and detergents  and buy environment friendly nontoxic products. Without doubt they use only nontoxic cosmetics for their daily care.

EXERCISE

They schedule at least 1 hour per day for a walk or some gentle exercise like dancing, yoga or love-making.  Anything which raises your blood circulation and bring you to sweat in a gentle way. We do not talk about heavy duty sport which is usually very detrimental to health. They can increase the detox by use of an Far Infra Red Sauna every second day. Sweating is healthy!

RELAXATION AND JOY

We all need balance. If the workload and stress is too big and no joy or quiet-time is left over to recover, the immune system is lowered to a degree where disease can spread and overtake. Smart Survivors hold this balance and are therefore more productive and inspired.

THE DYING RACE?

For a long time I have struggled with the perspective, that many will not realize the threat before it’s too late and cancer has spread all over their body, even though the danger was held right in front of their face. News about toxins and carcinogens are on TV, on radio and all over the internet, and those who know, try their best to let everybody know.

If you are not one of the LUCKY, SURVIVORS, AWAKENED or INTERESTED and you have no one to inspire you to become  SMART you won’t see the red flag before it’s too late. And no one can blame you, because you have no receptors built-in to realize the danger.

CONCLUSION

When we started out maxAwareness we originally called this site BLESSINGS in DISEASE and focused on educating our readers about the blessings which spring from any drama in life. Many of the cancer survivors had clearly stated that  “cancer healed their life”, or “it was the best thing which could have happened to them”. They had been AWAKENED by the disease and learned to overcome it.

Without cancer or all of the degenerative diseases we would continue without any warning directly into destruction of our planet and our life. We have to feel it, otherwise we would not notice anything, before it’s too late.

Therefore lets be grateful to all those who walked the path before us and who allow us to learn from their experience. Lets listen to what they have to share and find the solution which suits you best.

Who Has Created The Pharmaceutical Monster

Over the past 5 years I have had the chance to speak with thousands of cancer patients and believe it or not, over 80% (this is my own estimated guess) did not want to know that there is a possible cure for cancer, if it involved a change of lifestyle, restriction to their dietary habits, increased exercise, resolving emotional issues and so forth. If detox and coffee enemas are mentioned most patients panic and run for a doctor in the hope of a pill or injection to rescue them.

“DOC give me a pill but please don’t ask me to change my lifestyle!”

“If you think I would give up my Twinkies, just to survive cancer. . . . OH NO! That’s not possible. ”

I don’t believe blaming the Pharmaceutical or the Food Industry or the FDA and all other organizations is correct. They just supply what’s in demand. Whether it works or not, does not matter! No one cares anyway!

We have to turn this pointing finger by 180 degrees and point it to ourselves.

Our own CONVENIENCE has given them the right to be what they are today.

POWERFUL MONSTERS which become stronger with every act of convenience. As they have held the power for so long, they are certainly not willing to step back without a fight. If they feel that you are not yet strong enough to drop your convenience, they will continuously intimated you in the hope you shut up and return as a paying customer.

THEY MAKE BILLIONS FROM CONVENIENT PEOPLE LIKE YOU

If intimidation doesn’t work, all it takes is to hold some “Perfectly Constructed Evidence” (corporate funded research) under your nose and you’ll believe once again that the pharmaceutical companies know best.

Your own IGNORANCE to the fact that pills, tablets and any other forms of drugs have not cured any form of disease in the past 50 years, gives them the right to be a SUPER MONSTER. They are perfect in treating symptoms and covering up the disease by creating hundreds of side effects, but HEALING IS A TOTAL DIFFERENT BALLGAME!

OK OK! I’ll stop, but I hope, you’ve got my point.

!!!!! WE CAN CHANGE THIS SYSTEM !!!!!!

We are in charge if we do not depend on them any more. If we step up and empower ourselves with wisdom and knowledge. There are hundreds of stunning teachers out there to help us understand the concept of HEALING and health. They are happy to guide you.

BUT YOU NEED TO WALK THE TALK!

The only thing which is very IMPORTANT for all cancer patients is that you should NOT use Agave nectar but replace it with Yacon Syrup which is a sweetening agent extracted from the tuberous roots of the yacón plant (Smallanthus sonchifolius) indigenous to the Andes mountains. You can buy organic Yacon Syrup from many online stores. This sweetener has been recommended by David Getoff, Christiana Paul ,David Wolfe and several  doctors as a more suitable alternative as it does not trigger any insulin reaction or elevation.

Chocolate Mousse for Cancer Patients

The beauty of this mousse is its ability to go from plain to fancy! You can wow them by creating mini mousse cups, serving it up in a fancy party glass or (my favorite) eating it right out of the blender! Whatever you decide, the amazing flavor has hints of grandma’s spices. This mousse will have them (and YOU) begging for more!

2    whole    avocados, medium in size, seeded, peeled and quartered
1/4    cup    raw almond milk
1    cup    organic Yacon Syrup
1/2    tsp    Himalayan pink salt
2    tsp    apple pie spice (mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg & allspice)
1    tsp    vanilla extract
1/2    cup    raw cacao powder
1    pint    BLUE-berries, to garnish
12    whole    mint sprigs, for garnish
1/4    cup    raw cacao nibs, to garnish (if desired)

Method

1)      Place almond milk, cacao powder, agave, salt, vanilla, apple pie spice and avocados into blender.
2)      Blend until creamy and smooth.
3)      Place mousse in a non-stick mini cupcake pan (removable bottoms make for an easy release!) or in whatever cup or glass you desire.
4)     If you’re making the small mousse mini-cups, you’ll want to evenly fill each cup and then press the mousse firmly down. Place pan in the freezer for 2 hours to set.
5)      If you’re placing it in a serving dish or glass, you can serve immediately or chill in the refrigerator before serving.
6)      Before serving, top with cacao nibs, Blueberries and mint leaves.
