Dr. Douwes talks about the healing process when diagnosed with cancer as part of a holistic cancer treatment approach. Take out as much sugar as you can from your diet such as soda, cake, ice cream, jams, marmalades and other food that are made of sugar. Reduce your consumption of red meat and instead eat fish and poultry.
It is also important to change the cooking oil that you use in your kitchen, use olive oil, flaxseed oil and red canola oil. You also have to eat fresh vegetables and fruits in their normal form. This is a simple diet program that is not hard to follow because you can eat almost anything and the only thing that is not allowed are sweet tasting foods, since sugar can do harm to the body.

No, I tell them the main rules of no sugar. That means, you take the sugar out of your daily diet. This means no sweet drinks like coke, or sprite or whatever, they are full of sugar. No more jam and marmalade because it’s also sugar and no cake because it has sugar, no ice cream because this has sugar. I allow, because you know that body cannot work without sugar its complex with carbohydrates, it means dark bread, pasta, if possible the natural, with natural wheat. Get rid if or to reduce the consumption of red meat. Instead of red meat, white meat like fish and poultry. The next step is, you know to change the oils in kitchen. Instead of all kinds of oils, just two or three olive oil, flaxseed oil and canola oil. And with these three, you know it’s perfect because it’s got all the three fatty acids and these have an anti-inflammatory effect because most of these are associated what we call silent inflammation. And then you have to teach that vegetables are good, salads are good and that fruits are good but fruits are good only in their normal form. Fruit juices for instance are bad because they contain glucose water. If you eat three apples a day wonderful but if you make a juice from three apples and drink it this is bad. So this is very simple and they learn it and then of course in the initial phase , we teach them how to stay, let me say very, for a long time with the Budwig diet, this is easy to accept because you may eat almost everything, it’s just a question of organization and there is no big learning, the only thing which is not allowed are sweet things because in most of the cases, sugar is bad.
