Problem Resolution at Sanoviv

with Jonas Chong M.A. Psychology

Duration 10:54 min

Healing is not only about the body, but the mind, body and spirit and its only when all of these aspects are addressed that long term shifts and changes can occur.

If your mind is in a rut and you are still craving unhealthy foods and habits,  have destructive thoughts and emotional stress healing is challenging.

Jonas Chong  the Head of the Psychology and Spirituality Department or the Psychospiritual Department  at Sanoviv talks with maxAwareness about Energy Psychology and the processes used for problem resolution.

Energy medicine is one of five domains of “complementary and alternative medicine” (CAM) identified by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) in the United States.

The approaches known collectively as “energy therapies” vary widely in philosophy, approach, and origin. The ways in which this energy is used, modified, or manipulated to effect healing also vary. For example, acupressure involves manual stimulation of pressure-points, while some forms of yoga rely on breathing exercises.

Energy Psychology has been called “acupressure for the emotions.” By tapping energy points on the surface of the skin while focusing the mind on specific psychological problems or goals, the brain’s electrochemistry can be shifted to quickly help:

  • Overcome Fear, Guilt, Shame, Jealousy, Anger, or Anxiety
  • Change Unwanted Habits and Behaviors
  • Enhance the Ability to Love, Succeed, and Enjoy Life

About Jonas Gilberto Chong Curiel

“Even since I was a small kid I had a sense of service. Helping others and having empathy towards others has been a big part of my life. I found out later that the best way I could channel these strengths was as a psychologist. Although soon I sensed that the mind and emotions, the focus of my work, did not exist in a vacuum, and that other factors came into play that I had no knowledge of”, says Jonas Chong, the Head of our Psychology and Spirituality Department. “This can be very frustrating when you try your best and yet are lacking critical tools”

“Then all of this changed when I started working at Sanoviv. The idea of a whole team of health professionals working towards one objective, the health of the patient, is pretty amazing. The meeting of the minds and hearts that we have everyday in our meetings at Sanoviv feels like a complete and balanced service to our guests.”

Jonas received his Clinical Psychologist degree from CETYS Universidad and a Masters Degree in Gestalt Psychotherapy from the INTEGRO School of Psychotherapy. He has received multiple training in the application of alternative tools for psychological and spiritual support. Among these are: Energy Medicine, Energy Psychology, Focusing and Emotional Medicine. He has also received training in meditations, class facilitation and workshop development. He has never really been a stranger to the healing arts, as his father is a Pediatric Surgeon and his mother a Pediatric Nurse.

“What I enjoy the most about my work here is that in spite of the inherent nature of being in a team with people who have different perspectives, somehow, we end up consistently reaching a balance point where the whole person is represented and a true healing plan of action can be created.”

“What we do in this breathtaking place does not happen anywhere else in the world. We are a truly integrated team of health professionals who assess and treat the whole human being. This is the medicine of the future. This can be yours today.”

Embracing Death = Embracing Life

with Jonas Chong M.A. Psychology

Duration 5:18 min

Its a given, death is a process of life and at the same time when faced with a cancer diagnosis the thought of it coming sooner rather than later can be like the elephant in the room. A thought that’s very present and a conversation that’s very repressed.

The moment we choose to face that fear, embrace it, talk about it and explore our understanding of it our energy can go towards living rather than a fear of dying.

Even so healing is not always about physical healing, but emotional healing, relationship healing and a movement towards the life we have in each moment. Jonas  Chong head of the Psychology and Spirituality Department at Sanoviv discusses what can be a very sensitive subject with maxAwareness and answers;

  • Do you help your clients face death?
  • Many patients say healing started when they faced death?
  • Do you speak to your guests about the process of death?
  • Do you have clients who are ready to go and want to die?

Focused Attention and Healing

with Jonas Chong M.A. Psychology

Duration 6:54 min

Cancer is an opportunity to bring your focus and attention to reconnecting with your body and your life; an opportunity to heal and have a deeper relationship with yourself on a very intimate level.

A relationship that is built on reconnecting  you spirit, heart, mind and body; creating  peace and harmony within which is incredibly powerful on your healing journey.

There is often a sense of separation from the mind and the body, even a sense of separation from the self, this disconnect creates dis-ease in the body and therefore a clue to the shadow self, the parts of our life where we may have been hurt or abandoned.

Whilst the common focus in cancer treatment is often to fight the cancer, to go into battle, true healing occurs when we see cancer  as an opportunity to love and heal the very aspects of ourselves that created the ‘dis-ease’  in the first place.

Which begs the question ’If a pill or remedy was found that healed the body immediately, would it rob you of the learning and growing that comes from the healing journey?’

Jonas Chong the Head of the Psychology and Spirituality Department at Sanoviv talks with maxAwareness  about ‘The power of FOCUS and the true essence of finding PURPOSE in the healing journey.’

Exploring a person’s faith or spirituality in times of distress is an effective way of finding resources where there were none.  The Sanoviv team dialogue with people of all faiths in their own terms to find the balance between what might be occurring physically in their lives and what can be occurring spiritually. It is widely regarded that spirituality and religion are important factors in coping with and healing from chronic health issues like cancer.
