When you are looking for a gardener for your backyard or a tailor to produce your special wedding dress you normally check their qualifications, the quality of their work and how you resonate with them before you  commit to a contract. You need to be certain that they are able to produce the result you are looking for in a way that fits with the outcome your are looking for.

In the case of a doctor this common sense performance check   seems to get completely lost  before trusting a doctor or practitioner with your life.  People  often still look up to a doctor like to a god which they are not, like all professions they are employed for a service which they can do well or not and sometimes they can suit one person and not another.

In this series of answers you will learn how to check if your doctor is good for you. You will learn how to ask the right questions so that you can be certain that their priority is  to work for you and not for a big pharmaceutical company.

The key to good health is that you trust your doctor. You need to feel that he or she is giving you the best possible treatment, but often under the authority of a doctor a person does not feel that they can check if the doctor really knows what’s best for you.

  1. John Dannbah says:

    Hello Dr. Connealy.
This is the best post on this site. Thank you so much. it’s about time this is said in public. My wife has cancer and I have repeatedly tried to ask our doctor about diet to support the body in the healing process, but I always received the same answer. “Diet has nothing to do with that”. In what kind of a world are we living?

We are going to change the hospital tomorrow. CA is a bit far, otherwise I would come directly to you.
    Kind Regards
    John Dannbah

I had never questioned my doctor before coming to this site about 4 weeks ago. But this has changed. I have been searching all over the internet and have printed piles of papers about nutrition and dietary influence on cancer for my doctor. At first he was challenged but i think he is slowly opening up to this subject. I am glad that I had all your support and confirmation on hand as otherwise I would have never been brave enough to contradict or even speak up. Good that you share this information so openly.

  3. Marc M says:

Good point you make. How do we check out your credentials?

  6. Debrah Q. says:

It requires a lot of bravery to stand up to those gods in white. my doctor just walked out of the room when I tried to make some common sense. Now I just care for myself and do not ask anymore.
