Enhancing Cancer Treatments with the Hyperbaric Chamber

with Alex Thermos DO

Duration 7:48 min

If only all cancer treatments where like the Hyperbaric Chamber! You can kick back, relax, have a nap, watch a movie, listen to your favorite music and chill out for 45 minutes.

Alex Thermos gives a very grounded and easy to understand explanation of the treatment process, HOW it works and WHY its such a great benefit in Holistic Cancer Healing at the Center For New Medicine.

Hyperbaric chambers and hyperbaric oxygen therapy have been in use for centuries, as early as 1662 when an  English clergyman, Henshaw, built the first known hyperbaric pressure chamber. However, hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been used clinically since the mid 1800′s. HBO was tested and developed by the U.S. Military after World War I. It has been used safely since the 1930′s to help treat deep sea divers with decompression sickness. Clinical trials in the 1950′s uncovered a number of beneficial mechanisms from exposure to hyperbaric oxygen chambers.

Hyperbaric medicine, also known as hyperbaric oxygen therapy is the medical use of oxygen at a higher than atmospheric pressure. Hyper means increased and baric relates to pressure. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) refers to intermittent treatment of the entire body with 100-percent oxygen at greater than normal atmospheric pressure. The earth’s atmosphere normally exerts about 15 pounds per square inch of pressure at sea level. That pressure is defined as one atmosphere absolute (1 ATA). In the ambient atmosphere we normally breathe approximately 20 percent oxygen and 80 percent nitrogen. While undergoing HBOT, pressure is increased up to two times (2 ATA) in 100% oxygen.

This increased pressure, combined with an increase in oxygen to 100 percent, dissolves oxygen in the blood plasma and in all body cells, tissues and fluids at up to 10 times normal concentration-high enough to sustain life with no blood at all (from 20% to 100% oxygen is an increase of 5 times, from 1 ATA to 2 ATA can double this to a 10-fold increase).

Some of the many amazing benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber Therapy are that it :

  • Greatly increases oxygen concentration in all body tissues, even with reduced or blocked blood flow
  • Stimulates the growth of new blood vessels to locations with reduced circulation, improving blood flow to areas with arterial blockage
  • Causes a rebound arterial dilation, resulting in an increased blood vessel diameter greater than when therapy began, improving blood flow to compromised organs
  • Stimulates an adaptive increase in superoxide dismutase (SOD), one of the body’s principal, internally produced antioxidants and free radical scavengers and
  • Aids the treatment of infection by enhancing white blood cell action.

The use of increased atmospheric pressure for medical therapy has intrigued many physicians and scientists for hundreds of years. Though not new, HBOT has recently gained importance for treatment of chronic degenerative health problems related to cancer, atherosclerosis, stroke, peripheral vascular disease, diabetic ulcers, wound healing, cerebral palsy, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, macular degeneration, and many other disorders. Wherever blood flow and oxygen delivery to vital organs is reduced, function and healing can be aided with HBOT. When the brain is injured by stroke, CP, or trauma, HBOT may activate stunned parts of the brain to restore function.

Results can be dramatic. Patients with cerebral vascular disease commonly recover from complications of stroke more readily after HBOT. This is also true for potentially gangrenous legs and feet caused by blocked circulation, and for slow-healing diabetic ulcers. HBOT relieves pain, helps fight infection, and keeps threatened tissues alive.

One of the world’s most experienced authorities on hyperbaric medicine Dr. Edgar End, clinical professor of environmental medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin had this to say : “I’ve seen partially paralyzed people half carried into the HBOT chamber, and they walk out after the first treatment. If we got to these people quickly, we could prevent a great deal of damage.”

The Treatment Process

The Patient comes to the Hyperbaric Treatment facility and wears either a medical gown or non-flammable clothing.  They remove their shoes, watches, and empty their pockets of everything that they have – so as not to bring anything dangerous into the Hyperbaric Chamber.

The Patient is placed in the Hyperbaric Chamber and puts on a Mask that is attached to a medical hose which supplies 100% Oxygen to the Patient.  The door is closed and the patient can relax or even sleep in the Hyperbaric Chamber.

The Hyperbaric Chamber is pressurized with ambient air, and the pressure is elevated to sufficient amounts equivalent to depths in Seawater – 15 feet, 30 feet, 45 feet, etc. as prescribed by the Doctor.  These depths have equivalent measurements that are referred to as ATMOSPHERES (ATA).  Once the Patient reaches the prescribed pressure (1.5 ATA, 2.0 ATA, etc.) the Patient stays at this pressure for a prescribed amount of time – 60 minutes, 90 minutes, 120 minutes, etc.   The pressure allows us to saturate not only the Red Blood Cells with Oxygen, but also the Plasma with dissolved Oxygen.  We can therefore saturate the body with 25x the amount of Oxygen than breathing Oxygen alone.

Introducing Cristiana Paul

Nutritionist and Researcher

Duration Video 1 – 7:09 min Video 2 – min 8:07  Video 3 - 27:19 min Video 4 – 8:01 Video 5 – 20:11 min Video 6 – 24:15 min

Cristiana Paul is a nutritionist, working as an independent researcher and consultant to doctors and nutritionists in the Los Angeles area.

Having studied nutrition all her life, starting as a personal interest at age 35 she earned a Master’s degree in Nutrition Science from California Polytechnical Institute, Pomona. However, this basic training in nutrition was just a beginning, kind of like learning the letters of the alphabet and it took a lot more studying in order to put the letters together in words and phrases.

Understanding human physiology and the ways diet and supplements can affect it, is quite a puzzle. For over 15 years she has been through a journey of learning which sometimes feels like she has just begun getting a deep grasp of this so very complex puzzle, which we call nutrition science. ‘We might as well call it the science of optimal life’ says Christiana.

Her passion is to contribute to the advancement of the nutrition science, which is evolving very rapidly and providing multiple modalities to support optimum human health, performance, reduce risk of disease, minimize the need for pharmaceutical interventions and optimize vitality in spite of the challenges that aging presents.

Chronic diseases are killing us slowly. The global food market has rapidly progressed and we find ourselves eating foods that are; not appropriate  for our body type, out of season, have a prolonged shelf life, are filled with antibiotics and chemicals or are processed.

Being aware and understanding the source of  foods and the effects on our bodies is essential.  Having a variety of foods that are unprocessed and organic are easiest for the body to digest and process, allowing us to obtain a well balanced system and ultimate health.

Interview Part 3

Duration 27:19 min

There is a lot you can do to reduce your risk of cancer and heal your body, however understanding the complexity of the body is a huge task. When embarking on a healing journey or focusing on creating optimal health its integral to be supported by someone who understands the complexities of not only nutrients working together, but our cultural heritage and what our body needs to balance our intricate system in the 21st century.

Some of us try to do maintenance or fix our own cars, but we all know that it is a gamble depending on how much mechanical knowledge we have. However, most of us understand that it’s best to use a qualified mechanic. The better you take care of your car with regular maintenance, proper tune-ups and use the highest quality oil, water and gasoline, the better and longer it will function with good performance.

Well, we should do nothing less for our bodies, actually a lot more since we cannot trade them in for new ones (not yet anyway).

The bottom line is that if you want to function optimally physically and mentally, reduce your risk of all avoidable diseases and live a highly functional long life, you have to optimize what goes in your body every day: the right kinds and amounts of foods distributed properly throughout the day. Your food and nutritional supplements plan also has to be appropriate for your physical activity, genetics, lifestyle and your particular health conditions.

Cristiana Paul talks to maxAwareness about the ESSENTIALS to wellness.

  • Why we need to eat like primates in the zoo
  • What vegetables to eat
  • The complex effects of supplementation in foods like cereals
  • How vegetables effect our cancer risk and hormones
  • How carrots help cells multiply correctly
  • How cancer cells become immortal
  • The benefits and contraindications of juicing

Cristiana Paul talks about the Paleolithic diet and how it ultimately comes down to choosing to spend your money on  nutrient rich quality foods.

Paleolithic hunting and gathering peoples ate primarily meat, fish, shellfish, leafy vegetables, fruit, nuts and insects in varying proportions.  However, there is little direct evidence of the relative proportions of plant and animal foods. According to some anthropologists and advocates of the modern Paleolithic diet, Paleolithic hunter-gatherers consumed a significant amount of meat and possibly obtained most of their food from hunting. Competing hypotheses suggest that Paleolithic humans may have consumed a plant-based diet in general,  or that hunting and gathering possibly contributed equally to their diet. One hypothesis is that carbohydrate tubers (plant underground storage organs) may have been eaten in high amounts by our pre-agricultural humans. The relative proportions of plant and animal foods in the diets of Paleolithic peoples probably varied between regions. For instance, hunter gatherers in tropical regions such as Africa probably consumed a plant-based diet, while populations in colder regions such as Northern Europe most likely obtained most of their food from meat.

Overall, Paleolithic peoples experienced less famine and malnutrition than the Neolithic farming tribes that followed them.  This was partly because Paleolithic hunter-gatherers had access to a wider variety of plants and other foods, which allowed them a more nutritious diet and a decreased risk of famine.  Many of the famines experienced by Neolithic (and some modern) farmers were caused or amplified by their dependence on a small number of crops. The greater amount of meat obtained by hunting big game animals in Paleolithic diets than in Mesolithic and Neolithic diets may have also allowed Paleolithic Hunter-gatherers to enjoy a more nutritious diet than both Epipaleolithic/Mesolithic hunter-gatherers and Neolithic agriculturalists. It is also unlikely that Paleolithic hunter-gatherers were affected by modern diseases of affluence such as Type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease and cerebrovascular disease, because they ate mostly lean meats and plants and frequently engaged in intense physical activity. The Paleolithic diet (also known as the paleodiet or the caveman diet) is a modern diet that seeks to eliminate these diseases of affluence from contemporary industrial society, by replicating the dietary habits of Paleolithic hunter-gatherers.

‘Variety Is The Spice of Life

There is a very, very tasty way to enjoy your diet. Cristiana Paul shares insight into how to meet the complex needs of the body through correct cooking methods including raw foodism and eating a variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains and good oils.

Raw foodism can include any diet of primarily unheated food, or food warmed to a temperature less than 40 °C (104 °F) to 46 °C (115 °F). The most popular raw food diet is a raw vegan diet, but other forms may include animal products and/or meat. Raw foodists can be divided between those that advocate raw veganism or vegetarianism, those that advocate a raw omnivorous diet, and those that advocate a 100% raw animal foods diet.

A raw vegan diet consists of unprocessed, raw plant foods that have not been heated above 46 °C (115 °F). Raw vegans believe that foods cooked above this temperature have lost much of their nutritional value and are less healthy or even harmful to the body. Typical foods include fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds and sprouted grains and legumes.

Some raw vegans can be subdivided into fruitarians, juicearians, or sproutarians. Fruitarians eat primarily or exclusively fruits and nuts. Juicearians process their raw plant foods into juice. Sproutarians adhere to a diet consisting mainly of sprouted seeds.

Many foods in raw food diets are simple to prepare, such as fruits, salads, meat, and dairy. Other foods can require considerable advanced planning to prepare for eating. Rice and some other grains, for example, require sprouting or overnight soaking to become digestible. Many raw foodists believe it is best to soak nuts and seeds before eating them, to activate their enzymes, and deactivate enzyme inhibitors.[29] The amount of soak time varies for all nuts and seeds.

According to some cookbook authors, preparation of gourmet raw food recipes usually calls for a blender, food processor, juicer, and dehydrator. Depending on the recipe, some food (such as crackers, breads and cookies) may need to be dehydrated. These processes, which produce foods with the taste and texture of cooked food, are lengthy. Some raw foodists dispense with these recipes, feeling that there is no need to emulate the other nonraw diets or increase sales of kitchen appliances.

Chocolate Mousse for Cancer Patients

with Chef Tina Jo

Duration: 4:04 min

Living a vibrant life with RAW FOOD

Gourmet Chef Tina Jo inspires us with ‘Splendor in the Raw’ – Eat Raw • Feel Good • Live Long!!

When diagnosed with cancer the BIG NO, NO is sugar! Cancer LOVES sugar which is why you can’t eat it. ITS A DEFINITE NO, NO!

But what is life without the odd sweet desert? How can one survive?

That’s why we are pleased that there are some alternatives for the occasional treat. Chef Tina Jo presents us with one of the most delicious recipes for chocolate mousse.

The only thing which is very IMPORTANT for all cancer patients is that you should NOT use Agave nectar but replace it with Yacon Syrup which is a sweetening agent extracted from the tuberous roots of the yacón plant (Smallanthus sonchifolius) indigenous to the Andes mountains. You can buy organic Yacon Syrup from many online stores. This sweetener has been recommended by David Getoff, Christiana Paul ,David Wolfe and several  doctors as a more suitable alternative as it does not trigger any insulin reaction or elevation.

ENJOY!

No Matter How Sick You Are Its Possible to Get Well

with Dr Janet Hranicky Phd

Duration 14:49 min

The Simonton Cancer Center Patient Programs start with the heart and are based on the successful model for emotional intervention and support which Dr. Simonton pioneered in the treatment of cancer patients.

Dr Hranicky shares a strategy that supports your natural healing process, that brings balance and healing through meeting your unique psychological needs freeing up energy and building your natural life force.

It evolved from the concept that beliefs, feelings, attitudes and lifestyle are important factors affecting health. The program is a five-day educational and psychotherapeutic session for cancer patients and their support person, during which these concepts are explored in a safe, supportive atmosphere conducive to learning and a positive change.

The program focuses on the influence of beliefs and belief systems. Participants learn techniques for enriching their lives in order to promote their health; lifestyle counseling; relaxation and mental imagery or creative thinking exercises. Additionally, participants explore the importance of gentleness, and the role of stress, secondary gain, and other contributing factors to their disease. The issues of recurrence and death are also examined. By delving into these topics through the use of the group process, patients are enabled to implement these methods into their daily lives.

Ten Tenets of the Simonton Cancer Program

  1. Our emotions significantly influence health and recovery from disease (including cancer). Emotions are a strong driving force in the immune system and other healing systems.
  2. Our beliefs and attitudes influence our emotions thereby affecting our health and healing systems.
  3. We can significantly influence our beliefs and attitudes. As a result we shape our emotions, and therefore, significantly influence our health.
  4. Ways of influencing beliefs, attitudes and emotions can be readily taught and learned by using a variety of accessible methods that are presented in this program.
  5. All of us function as physical, mental, social and spiritual/philosophical beings. These aspects need to be addressed in the broad context of healing, with a focus on the particular needs of a person who is ill, and that person’s family, community, and culture.
  6. Harmony is central to health – balance among the physical, mental, and spiritual/philosophical aspects of being. This extends to relationships with self, family, friends, community, planet, and universe.
  7. We have inherent (genetic, instinctual) tendencies and abilities that aid us in moving in the direction of health and harmony (physical, mental, spiritual/philosophical and social).
  8. These abilities can be developed and implemented in meaningful ways through existing techniques and methods that are presented in this program.
  9. As these abilities are developed, proficiency evolves, as when learning other skills. The results is greater harmony and improved quality of life, which significantly impacts one’s state of health.
  10. These skills and insights also change our relationship with death by lessening our fear and pain, and freeing more energy for getting well and living life more fully today.

The Power Of The Secondary Gain

with Dr Janet Hranicky Phd

Duration 20:03 min

Through life’s experiences and perceptions we often lose connection with our true nature and become entrapped, imprisoned in the circumstance unconsciously created by our mind. Thankfully our true nature is bigger than words can define and is often revealed through extreme experiences like having cancer. Many have said that at the time of experiencing cancer they  of course didn’t want it, but in hindsight cancer has reconnected them with themselves, their family and /or their purpose and has been one of their greatest gifts.

Often the experience of cancer has a secondary gain it allows us to see deeper hidden aspects of ourselves, our family and loved ones.

Families unite, people express love or an individual can find purpose and shine in the light of what is seen to be a tragedy. The key is to understand and recognize those secondary gains, the love that to this point has not been expressed,  the compassion, the attention that’s received. Sometimes when this unconscious need is met without recognition and a strategy of how to maintain that love, that connection, that purpose as one moves back into health we can hold onto our illness in fear of losing the secondary gain.

When we connect with the truth of this philosophy, cancer is a spiritual, magical experience intended to connect each individual to their purpose.

maxawareness asks Dr Hranicky:

  • Is mind over matter sometimes reversed?
  • How important is it to have a purpose to heal?
  • Do most people think they don’t have problems?
  • What do you believe purpose is?
  • Does every problem hold a blessing?

People Are Losing Their Lives Unnecessarily

with Dr. Ferre Akbarpour

Duration 17:59 min

Practitioner’s in both Orthodox and Alternative Medicine are like lions going head to head singularly trying to save a patients life, whilst people are losing there life  unnecessarily because of this lack of collaboration between orthodox and alternative medicine. Alternative methods can contribute to orthodox treatment and in some cases even prevent treatments having to be stopped because of their toxic overload on the body. All natural, non toxic methods with scientific value can be given to the patient to help them feel stronger, healthier, tolerate the chemo therapy and allow the oncologist to do their treatment.

Patients are using alternative therapies unbeknown to their Oncologists, when they reveal what they are doing  Oncologists can no longer deny that the patients quality of life and vital signs are better than normal.

Humans have the highest intelligence amongst all creators however our intelligence is destroying us. You as an individual have the power to make a difference, to change the way medicine is practiced by the choices you make in practitioners, your shopping trolley and becoming an empowered proactive participant in your healing process.

Dr. Ferre Akbarpour talks with maxAwareness about:

  • The concerning effects of environment on our health
  • The shift in Holistic Cancer Treatment because of patient demand
  • The need for collaboration between Orthodox and Alternative Medicine
  • The benefit of combining Alternative and Orthodox Cancer Treatment
  • A one stop shop for cancer

Resolving Emotions and Embracing Death

with Malonie Gabriel

Duration 5:12 min

Malonie shares  insights from her own journey through war and a near death experience  that lead to a deeper understanding of herself, her work and the fulfillment of her life’s purpose.

Your body can only respond to and fulfill the thoughts and feelings that we give to it through your mind. Feelings of harmony and balance contribute to healing the body, while feelings of conflict, disharmony and imbalance lead to disturbances in the body. It is as if feelings are a “command”, a set of orders given from the mind for the brain/body complex to carry out and fulfill through physical manifestation.

Special techniques can be used to gently help each patient get in touch with lingering emotional conflict beliefs that may be holding them back. These techniques are designed to help restore the natural harmony and balance of the mind, and therefore the normal, healthy function of the body.

Identifying and releasing these conflict beliefs opens the way for genuine and lasting healing to move forward. When the mind is healthy, the body must and can only be healthy also.

Malonie Gabriel, BA, LMT, EEMCP has been practicing in the holistic health field for 25 years.

She specializes in Lymph Drainage Therapy, Oncology Massage and Energy Medicine. She is a licensed esthetician, certified in the Dr. Hauschka holistic skin and body treatments.

Malonie is a natural healer which means that she was born with the ability to perceive and work with the human energy field. She has had extensive training to develop these innate abilities into a healing art. She is a certified Eden Energy Medicine Practitioner, a Healing Touch Practitioner, Reiki Master and trained in several other healing modalities.

Malonie Gabriel talks to maxAwareness about:

  • Being grateful for the challenges in life
  • The lesson to be learned from challenge
  • Resolving emotions
  • Conquering the fear of death
